I'll let everybody know when we have updates though, be it videos, just info on what more we've added, or demos. Trust me, I'm excited about it too and I want the game to come out soon. I know it's asking a lot to have people wait. It's been four years of working on it and so far this is the second playable demo (and I believe the engine was for all practical purposes totally redone for this demo). I'm not sure that I'm even comfortable putting a number on it and trying to guess. Since there are soooo many different enemies in all 3 games, it definitely will take a long time.
Their engine is really coming along nicely and they are working on adding all of the different enemies into the game. We all have jobs and are all spread out (at least two are from Brazil and I live in the USA). This is a really small team and we are all working on it in our free time. I don't speak it either! I use the built in translator to look at the stuff on their page.Ī full game is pretty far away. What a disappointment.It's in Portuguese, actually. At this rate, though, the headache caused by the bad combination of intentional and unintentional challenge is just going to stay a long time.
Then, when the developers fix those glitches, then they can add challenge while still being fair. If this is truly a Beta, as they claim, then the smart thing to do is ease off on the challenge to let people get to more parts of the game and discover and report more glitches. I respect that this isn't even claimed to be a finished game, but in that case, again, you need to tone the intentional difficulty way down. Also, what the fuck are you doing putting three hard jumps right after the continue? Give me a fucking breather there. I died because the minecarts now have no acceleration or brakes, and every challenge to them is in jump strength.
I died because my Kong barrel disappeared when I put it down. I died because the camera doesn't move down fast enough. Fangamers of the world, you need to learn an important lesson:ĭO NOT MAKE YOUR GAME FUCKING DIFFICULT IF THE ENGINE ALREADY IS! What is worse, though, is the degree to which much of the difficulty isn't because of good design. These developers seem to have no sense of difficulty curve, because even Donkey Kong Country Returns did not kill me this much in the first world. Yet its gameplay is still poor both in terms of mechanics and design. For once, its graphics aren't an ugly mangled mess. Let's be clear here: This is the most competent Donkey Kong Country fangame ever.
Well, I got to the third level and played it for a bit before saying fuck it.
